Glass Shower Doors: The Upgrade You Need in Your Home

Everyday Cleaning

While there isn’t a foolproof method to prevent mildew, soap scum, and hard water stains from coming back forever, there are two simple things you can do every day to keep glass shower doors clean. First, after every shower, take a dry microfiber cloth and wipe down your shower door. Second, when you aren’t using your bathroom, leave your bathroom doors open, so air can circulate.

Deep Cleaning Methods

There are two main cleaning methods we recommend for glass shower doors when you want to give them a thorough cleaning, and they both use natural ingredients you probably have on-hand.

  1. Cleaning your glass shower doors with lemon—Grab two or three lemons, a spray bottle, distilled water, and a microfiber cloth. Mix approximately 3 tbsp of lemon juice with a cup of distilled water in the spray bottle. Spray the solution all over your shower doors and let it sit for five minutes before wiping down your doors and buffing out any streaks with the microfiber cloth.
  2. Cleaning your glass shower doors with vinegar—For this method, mix one-part vinegar with three parts water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the mixture for 60 seconds before pouring the solution into a spray bottle. Mist your shower doors with the solution and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe the doors down and dry with a microfiber cloth for glass shower doors that shine.

We can apply a coating to the glass after the shower has been installed to make it easier to clean. We always discuss this with the customer during the selling process. Also, Rain-X in a bottle works well to apply to new glass. Give us a call at Statesville Glass and Shower Door for more information.
